POSITION TITLE: Lifeguard

BASIC FUNCTIONS: The City of Clemson is hiring for lifeguard positions at the Central/Clemson Recreation Center. First aid certification, CPR certification and life guard certification. WSI lifeguard training preferred.

GRADE AND SALARY RANGE: $7.25 - $9.00 per hour.

POSITION TITLE: Temporary Part Time Front Desk

BASIC FUNCTIONS: The front desk position performs customer service duties, membership sales, manages membership software and generates membership related reports within the Central Clemson Recreation Department. The position reports to the Director. Candidates are required to have graduated from an accredited high school or have a General Equivalency Diploma and two (2) years of general office experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience. The Central Clemson Recreation Center is seeking someone with considerable knowledge of customer service skills. Special consideration will be given to those who can demonstrate an exemplary ability to provide positive and effective working relationships with the general public, city employees, and city officials.

GRADE AND SALARY RANGE: $7.25 to $9.00/hr. Depending on qualifications.

POSITION TITLE: Victims Advocate (Police Department)


BASIC FUNCTIONS: Under general supervision, performs and coordinates services for victims of crime. Work involves coordinating and supervising volunteers. Reports to the Criminal Investigations Commander. This is a non commissioned position.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to identify the needs of victims that request service of the Clemson City Police Department. Responds to the following crime or incident scenes to assist victims, witnesses, or family members. All deaths involving homicide, reckless homicide, manslaughter, or possible suicide. Any death where the scene needs to be preserved for any length of time and family members, significant others, or witnesses are present. Any suspected kidnapping. Any violent crime: assault/battery with intent to kill, assault/battery of a high and aggravated nature, criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, shooting, or stabbing. All sexual assault complaints. All armed robberies. Calls involving child or elder abuse where the victim is traumatized by the incident or has special needs. Provides on-scene crisis intervention at the time of a critical incident, such as a home fire.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, preferably supplemented by an Associate’s degree in psychology, sociology or criminal justice or equivalent degree; and two years experience in program development and administration, or social service provision; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State Driver's License without record of suspension or revocation in any state. This position will require periodic emergency call out.

SALARY HIRING RANGE: Grade 13 Hiring Range ($14.93 – $16.50 per hour DOE) with an excellent benefit package.

POSITION TITLE: Head Camp Counselor - Seasonal Temporary Position

BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Head Camp Counselor assists with program implementation and acts as a leader and role model for counselors. The Head Counselor will supervise Camp Counselors and continuously provides feedback and assistance on individual counselor performance. The Head Counselor will evaluate staff performance and development. The Head Counselor is a support person for any staff related issues. Head Counselors will provide a safe and nurturing environment for campers and will be actively involved and have a positive attitude about all camp activities. This position requires superior communication skills, leadership, problem solving, team building, flexibility, and responsibility.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Creative and energetic, passion for working with children and a love for the outdoors. Experience working with youth in a supportive environment. Ability to teach and assist in teaching skills and activities. Professional attitude matched with lots of enthusiasm. Candidate should be at least 18 years old. Available from June 14-August 6. Must be able to work daytime hours ranging from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

POSITION TITLE: Summer Camp Counselor - Seasonal Temporary Position

BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Day Camp Counselor will supervise and effectively lead a group of campers in daily camp activities. Day Camp Counselors will provide a safe and nurturing environment for campers and will be actively involved and have a positive attitude about all camp activities. Counselors handle minor camper misbehavior and difficulties, area clean up, and scheduled program activities. They are the main reason kids enjoy camp and are ambassadors of fun. This position demands commitment to the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. It requires a consistently high energy level, bursts of creativity, a healthy dose of humor, the ability to recognize unhappiness and nurture children accordingly, and the desire to be a positive influence on the lives of children.

POSITION TITLE: Custodian – Public Works

BASIC FUNCTIONS: Under regular supervision, cleans and maintains City buildings. Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and work areas. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, dusts, shampoos, steam cleans, strips, waxes, polishes, and buffs floors, carpets, and furniture, etc. Cleans interior trash cans and garbage cans and replaces liners; transports trash and waste to disposal area. Picks up litter from around buildings and grounds. Reports to a Public Works Supervisor.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent with the ability to learn and utilize new skills in the area of Custodial work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess or be able to obtain by employment a valid SC Drivers License.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be physically able to operate a vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, and a copier. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty-five pounds of force frequently, and/or up to ten pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to fifty pounds.

SALARY HIRING RANGE: Grade 7 Hiring Range. $10.22 - $12.27/Hr. (DOQ), with an excellent benefits package.
