- Fire Substation
- Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion
HWY 133/RAILROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT - with traffic updates
SCDOT repaved Highway 133 October 29th through November 2nd, 2017. This completes all road level work on the bridge replacement.
BERKELEY DRIVE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE PROJECT
The Pedestrian Bridge is now officially open on Berkeley Drive. A grand opening of the bridge, now named the Green Crescent Trail Bridge, was held on Friday, November 10th, 2017.
Construction on the City's new fire substation has been completed. Crews are still getting settled in the new building, but it is now occupied. Information on the new Community Room should be finalized in early 2018.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT EXPANSION
The City of Clemson is embarking on a wastewater treatment plant expansion that will increase capacity at the Cochran Road wastewater treatment facility from 1.15 MGD to 2.0 MGD. This expansion is necessary to support the unprecedented commercial growth occurring in the City at this time and to maintain compliance with SCDHEC regulations. This project includes a new headworks structure for screening and grit removal, a new influent pump station, upgrades to the existing EQ basin, converting from a biological process to membrane bio-reactor (MBR) technology, new UV disinfection, a new post aeration basin, and a new effluent pump station. The expansion will also include all necessary instrumentation and controls. The total cost of all improvements to the Cochran Road treatment plant expansion, as outlined in the preliminary engineering report is $14.8 million.

Update March 20, 2017
SCDOT has finished the drilled shafts for the bridge and anticipates being able to remove the drilling rig the week of March 20. This will eliminate the need for daily lane closures. There will only be sporadic lane closures once the drilling rig has been removed from the project site.
Update March 1, 2017
Lane closures will continue over the next three weeks on SC 133 beginning at Lakeview Circle towards US 123 for placement of the drilled shafts.
Update December 16, 2016
Elm Street between Pickens Street and Hwy 133 will be closed 4-6 weeks due to bridge construction starting December 19. Hwy 133 traffic to and from Elm Street will be detoured via Calhoun and Pickens Streets.
Update December 01, 2016
This week, all traffic will be shifting to the Sonic side under the bridge in order to remove the bridge deck and beams. The pattern will be the same until the bridge deck and beams are removed. The only exception will be next week on Monday, December 5th, when the contractor will be working at night to remove the center pier, weather permitting. During this time the inside lanes in both directions will be closed until the pier is removed and the roadway repaired.
Update October 25, 2016
Railroad Bridge demolition is scheduled to begin tomorrow (Wednesday 10/26/16). Work will begin on the southbound (Sonic side of the road). Both southbound lanes will be shut down while this work is taking place. All traffic will be shifted to the two most eastern lanes (farthest away from Sonic)
Update October 18, 2016
Asbestos removal will continue the next couple days on the railroad bridge and should be complete by Thursday, October 20. The far right lane on Highway 133 toward Six Mile will be closed while this work takes place. Starting Thursday, October 20, there will be no closures until removal of the bridge. Bridge removal is on hold until SCDOT can acquire track time from Norfolk Southern.
Update October 06, 2016
Work on asbestos removal has stopped until October 17. There will be no lane closures until work resumes at that time.
