After the success of the Abernathy Boardwalk Re-decking Community Project this past March, the City of Clemson is now seeking volunteers for additional community build days. Again, positions are available for a variety of skill levels and abilities, and snacks, beverages, and lunch will be provided to volunteers. Commemorative t-shirts for the community build will also be available for first time volunteers.
Volunteers are asked to arrive a few minutes before the start of the shift in order to allow time for check-in. Afternoon volunteers are asked to arrive at 12:30pm if they would like to eat lunch. Additional details, including parking information, will be provided via email a few days prior before the build dates.
April 26th and 27th
8am - 12:30pm and/or 1pm - 5pm
8am - 12:30pm
Sign-ups are also available for May 23rd through 25th.
Due to the rebuild effort, Abernathy Park will be closed during these dates.
Before signing up, please note:
- Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Volunteers under 18 years old will not be able to operate the saw.
- All volunteers (or a parent/guardian for those under 18) are required to read and sign a release form before beginning their shift.
- Volunteer shifts are divided into crews rather than positions, so those wishing to work on the same crew should sign up for the same crew and are encouraged to sign up at the same time.
- All safety equipment and tools will be provided. You must wear closed toed shoes (work boots if possible) and are STRONGLY encouraged to wear long pants and long sleeves. While we understand the weather will likely be warm, given the nature of the work you will be doing and the environment you will be working in, covered extremities provide better protection.
