Day three of the rebuild was cold, with a brutally unforgiving wind making it that much colder. While we were somewhat concerned about the cold and wind deterring volunteers, we soon found we had nothing to worry about. Our volunteers are as dedicated as they are hardworking. Again, we had several repeat volunteers and several newcomers. After three days of work, we're really seeing a lot of progress in the boardwalks and in the brush clearing and removal though we know there is still quite a bit to be done. Our landscaping volunteers have spread a lot of mulch and cleared out a lot of vines and brush around the trees and grassy areas surrounding the boardwalks.
We also surprised Mayor Cook, who has been working with our volunteers all week, by celebrating his birthday between the two shifts, singing "Happy Birthday" then passing out cake.
As always, we want to extend our thanks to all of our volunteers with a special thanks to the Clemson Wendy's, our lunch sponsor for the day.
