Recognizing One of Clemson's Finest Colonel Ben Skardon

Recognizing One of Clemson's Finest Colonel Ben Skardon

For years Colonel Ben Skardon, Clemson class of '38, trained in Clemson for the Bataan Memorial March - held annually in White Sands, New Mexico - where he walks in honor of his fellow Clemson alumni and war heroes Henry Leitner, '37 and Otis Morgan, '38.

On Friday, July 12th at 4pm, members of the Clemson community and City Council held a SURPRISE recognition of Colonel Ben Skardon, a Clemson resident, Clemson University Alumnus, and WWII veteran who turned 102 this year.

Many citizens and City Staff and Council members attended the dedication.  A sign was placed and dedicated in his honor; it is located across the street from 307 Woodland Way, Clemson, SC.
